Howie, Don and Marlene Malone, Jeanette Neary, John Dornan APOLOGIES: Fr. Bill Stevens (Bev Howie chaired the meeting in his absence), Larry Czarnik, David and Maria Szeto, Geoff Duggan, Dennis Porteous, Mary McGuinnes MINUTES: The minutes of the previous meeting were read and received. CORRESPONDENCE: Bev received a Fax from Geoff Duggan enclosing a copy of Fr. Michael Gormly's article on ecumenism for the next newsletter. Geoff requested an article for the April Newsletter on the Year of the Holy Spirit that begins at Easter. It was suggested that an article on the Fruits of the Holy Spirit might be appropriate for a future article. Bev will contact Fr. Stevens regarding this. GENERAL BUSINESS: Our prayers are once again with Noreen McGarry who is back in hospital. Discussion on a diocesan banner making awareness activity, raised at the previous meeting, was discussed. It was agreed that a letter be sent to all Parish priests in the diocese asking them to invite thinkers, needlework persons and artists to get together to make a banner around a Jubilee theme for their church. It was felt priests should be asked to take the matter up with their parish council and to put it in their parish bulletin. It was agreed that Bev and Fr. Stevens prepare a letter as well as a flyer containing some suggestions for banner themes. Don and Marlene Malone volunteered to follow up the letter with personal contact in the Central Coast Deanery. Monica, Jeanette and John will follow up in their area. Bev to ask Geoff Duggan to help follow up in the Peninsula area. Following a reading of Fr. Michael's newsletter article on ecumenism it was agreed that members of the committee make a personal effort to promote ecumenism in their own lives and parishes. It was noted that Anglican-Catholic combined services are already happening in the Waitara parish. IT WAS AGREED THAT FUTURE MEETINGS BE HELD EVERY TWO MONTHS. There being no further business the meeting closed at 8:40 p.m. THE NEXT MEETING WILL BE HELD ON WEDNESDAY, 6TH MAY, 1998 IN THE MEETING ROOM OF THE DIOCESAN OFFICES AT 7.30 P.M. e&oe, LC 98MY06 |
