MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE BROKEN BAY DIOCESAN JUBILEE COMMITTEE HELD AT WAITARA OF WEDNESDAY, 5TH NOVEMBER, 1997 PRESENT: Monica Cotter, Larry Czarnik, Denise Carmody, Geoff Duggan, Anne Duthoit, Bev. Howie,Noreen McGarry, Mary McGuinness, Don and Marlene Malone, Dennis Porteous, Fr. Bill Stevens, David and Maria Szeto. APOLOGIES: Fr. Michael Gormly MINUTES: Minutes of the previous meeting were accepted. GENERAL BUSINESS: New members New members Anne and Mary were welcomed to the meeting. Posters and cards Posters and cards have now been distributed to parishes. The meeting did not consider it necessary to have Jubilee cards printed in ethnic languages. Internet A folder on Internet and access is being put together by Brother Neil Richards from the Diocesan Office. Access via a password is still to be negotiated. Newsletter Father Stevens distributed a rough copy of the Jubilee supplement for the December issue of the Diocesan newsletter. This has now been approved by the Bishop. Graphics need to be added and the names of committee members sorted into deaneries. Names and phone numbers only to be included. It was suggested that St. Paul Book & Media be approached re advertising Jubilee material to help cover costs. The next newsletter column will include an explanation of the Jubilee icon as well as a breakdown of the Australian Bishops letter on Jubilee. A question regarding the exclusion of any mention of the Sacraments of Initiation in the supplement was raised. It was felt that it is better not to present too much data all at once. The Sacramental aspect of Jubilee 2000 may be included in a future newsletter article Resources Bev. Howie has now catalogued all resource material gathered to date. They are available for borrowing by any member of the committee. It was suggested by Maria Szeto that distribution of a bookmark or sticker containing the Australian Bishops' logo to children could generate more interest in Jubilee 2000. Fr. Stevens noted the suggestion to be passed on to the Bishop. The meeting closed at 8.35.The next meeting will be held on Wednesday, 3rd December at 7.30 p.m. in the meeting room of the Diocesan Offices. This will be the last meeting until February. |
