MINUTES:

The minutes of the last meeting were accepted.

One hundred Jubilee posters and 70,000 cards are now ready for distribution to all parishes with the next newsletter. Two posters will be sent to each parish, and 5 cards to every newsletter. The next letter to Parish Priests from the Bishop will include a paragraph asking that posters be displayed in a prominent place, and that cards be distributed in the Parish, in schools and to catechists. Fr, Stevens presented the Jubilee item for the next issue of the newsletter will also include an explanation of the Jubilee icon.

Internet.

Larry reported that an encouraging discussion had taken place with Brother Neil Richards. He had also contacted Jackie Brady (Bishops' Conference Media) to ascertain the amount of useable space available for the diocese. It was considered that 25K allows adequate space for the inclusion of Jubilee content. Answers to questions re password connection and cost have yet to be obtained.

It was noted that, whilst the primary communication channel will be the Diocesan Newsletter, the biggest repository of material will be on the Internet for access by Parish personnel.

It was noted that three new members have joined the group and was suggested that some information regarding the committee be presented in the newsletter. The need to reach out to parishes on a regional basis was also reinforced.

Resources.

Fr. Stevens indicated he would be happy to step down from the Chair if anyone would volunteer to take it over. There were no offers, and the meeting expressed the desire for Fr. Stevens to continue for the time being. Bev. Howie offered to check out the appropriateness of the resource material gathered so far, and to catalogue it.

It was agreed that an insert be prepared for the November issue of the Diocesan newsletter. Larry, Bev. Frs. Michael Gormly and Bill Stevens to meet at the Columban Institute on Thursday, 16th October at 7.30 p.m. to prepare the insert. The meeting requested that all communication be user friendly, and that a simple background to the history of Jubilee be included.
